LCSS SR3 Architecture — DRDC / DLCSPM-3

October 2007 – February 2009

Software architecture

The Land Command Support System (LCSS) is the Canadian Army's command, control, communications, and computing system-of-systems. The mandate was SR3 architecture and a reference implementation: TacC2IS models, studies, the C2IF framework, and proofs of concept.

I reverse-engineered the data-access (DAS) models, designed key mapping for federated databases (the same information object across different schemas), architected a configurable meta-database that could be generated in a few clicks, and — after an unsuccessful LINQ provider — designed search-engine-style indexing and query execution over the federated store.

Impact

  • DAS architecture models reverse-engineered from existing code
  • Key-mapping architecture and proof of concept on federated databases
  • Configurable meta-database generated with its libraries
  • Search-engine-style indexing and query architecture
